Strengthening the abdominal muscles after giving birth is so important. It helps prevent and improve lower back pain, helps posture and even can increase circulating blood flow and decrease constipation. For many women, the abdominal muscles separate during pregnancy. This is called diastis recti. About 60% of women get diastis recti in pregnancy and abdominal exercises, commonly found in yoga and pilates practices help.
